GTA 6 Could Hit PC in Early 2027, Far Sooner Than Expected
GamesBeat reports a Q1 2027 PC release for GTA 6, just months after its scheduled November console debut, but Rockstar has not confirmed that window.

PC players could face a much shorter wait for Grand Theft Auto VI than its predecessor made them endure. GamesBeat reports that Rockstar plans to release the PC version in the first three months of 2027, citing four anonymous industry sources familiar with the studio's plans.
That is a reported release window, not a Rockstar announcement. GamesBeat says the company did not respond to its request for comment before publication, and the PC timing remains unconfirmed by Rockstar.
What Is Official, and What Is Reported?
Rockstar's June preorder announcement, published by Take-Two, schedules GTA 6 for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not give a PC release date.
GamesBeat's October 13 report, updated October 14, places the PC version in January through March 2027. The outlet says its sources requested anonymity to protect their business relationships. That gives readers a specific claim to assess, but no named source publicly committing Rockstar to the timetable.
PCWorld's October 14 coverage provides the context for why the report is surprising: the publication had previously estimated a PC arrival in late 2027 or early 2028. That was PCWorld's prediction. It was never an official release window that Rockstar has now moved forward.
PCWorld is also covering GamesBeat's reporting here. The two articles should not be read as two independently sourced confirmations of the same launch plan.
GTA 5 Shows How Much Shorter This Would Be
The historical comparison is striking. Rockstar announced GTA 5's availability on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17, 2013. Its PC launch followed on April 14, 2015. Those dates put the gap at just under 19 months.
If GTA 6 meets both its announced console date and the reported PC window, the wait would shrink to a few months. That conditional comparison is the real significance of the report: PC players might join the launch conversation while the console release is still relatively fresh.
It also shows the limits of forecasting from the previous game. GTA 5's schedule is useful context for expectations, but it cannot establish GTA 6's release date. Equally, an anonymous-source report about current plans cannot guarantee when a finished PC version will arrive.
What This Means for PC Players
For someone considering a console purchase mainly to play GTA 6, the difference between a few months and more than a year could materially change the decision. Our view is that this report gives PC players a reason to reconsider the assumption of a long wait, while leaving room for the schedule to change.
LTG's take: We can believe Q1 2027 is Rockstar's target and still be skeptical that it will meet it. Our concern is the time needed to fine-tune and polish a PC version of a game this ambitious. The two console delays offer a reason for caution: as GamesBeat recounts, Rockstar moved the release from 2025 to May 2026, then to November 19, 2026. In its Q2 fiscal 2026 conference call remarks, Take-Two said that second move gave Rockstar additional time to finish the game to the expected level of polish.
Our working assumption for a staggered console-to-PC release is that the full PC fine-tuning and polish push comes after the console version ships. This is LTG's understanding of how that work might be sequenced, not information about Rockstar's internal plans. If that pattern holds here, the scheduled November 19, 2026 console launch would leave only a few months before the reported Q1 2027 PC window ends. That tight turnaround is why we expect some slippage.
If the reported Q1 target is accurate, we would expect a slip of roughly three to six months beyond that target to be a more realistic outcome than an on-time arrival. That is LTG's editorial judgment, not a reported delay or inside knowledge of the PC build. We would allow for several extra months of finishing work without assuming another wait stretching into years. The console experience informs that caution; it cannot tell us how much work remains on PC.
Using the end of Q1 (March) as our planning reference, adding three to six months points to June through September 2027, roughly mid-to-late 2027. An earlier target within Q1 would shift that range earlier, so this is a scenario rather than a new release window. Even that later scenario would leave a much shorter gap after November 2026 than GTA 5's wait of just under 19 months. Our caution still leaves room for a PC arrival far sooner than that precedent would suggest.
The next meaningful milestone is a PC announcement from Rockstar with a release window it is prepared to publish. Until then, early 2027 is a reported possibility worth following, rather than a date to build a purchase around.
